Yokohama Y870. FEATURES AND BENEFITS: Temporary spare tire; All season traction; Improved controllability; . OVERVIEW: The Yokohama Y870 is a temporary spare, all season tire deigned for passenger vehicles and SUVs.The tire offers great all season traction, optimizing its year-round performance. The ideal tread design, with the detailed siping pattern, and the all season compound work together to upgrade the dry, wet, and winter-weather performance. The durable compound elements and the detailed siping placement increase the tires surface traction to ensure a safe year-round drive. The compound elements optimize the rubbers flexibility throughout the year, in various temperatures. The tread designs siping placement increases the number of biting edges that grip the road, which boosts the surface traction. The treads ideal groove placement avoids hydroplaning in wet-weather situations. The ideal tread design maintains surface contact for better controllability. A close road contact upgrades steering responsiveness and driving stability. This results in quick and precise steering responses, while the structure is secured against driving pressure. Shoulder blocks help to enhance the cornering ability with the use of extra biting edges. This offers great cornering and maneuvering capability. The Yokohama Y870 promotes a limited temporary performance when mounted on a vehicle, much like a donut spare tire. The performance speed is limited to 50 mph, and the tire pressure must be 60 psi at all times. Compact or temporary spare tires do not offer as good performance as regular all season tires do; as a result, they should not be used in harsh weather. This is a bias ply or diagonal tire. Due to the tire’s internal construction and size, it is possible that the tire will look deformed. Smaller diagonal tires do not have reinforced constructions that can keep the tire from deforming. The bias construction and the small tire’s non-reinforced internal structure allow the tire to fold in when it is deflated or not properly inflated. This is not constructional damage or an issue; it is a normal occurrence with such tires. In such cases, the tire needs to be mounted and inflated to the proper PSI or, in some instances, an inner tube needs to be added. The proper PSI and the inner tube are able to maintain the tire’s ideal shape, preventing the bias plies from looking deformed. This ensures their performing safety and durability. The photo is a representation of the tire’s possible deformation, it does not represent the specific tire model, size, tread pattern and application.Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
